Teeny Weeny Hair Haul

When it comes my hair, I'm pretty damn boring with it. So buying a few new hair bits is a bit novelty to me as i usually stick to my tried and tested ol' favourites. I needed new dry shampoo, love volumising products and had had my eye on trying out a salt spray for quite a while now, so with all of these being on offer in Superdrug at half price or less i snapped up all three!

Batiste Cherry Dry Shampoo

Generally Batiste gets right up my nose. There aren't any fragrances i've liked and i generally find them waaay too powdery for my liking and with my mostly black / dark coloured wardrobe, no one likes looking like a dandruf snowglobe! But... I'm a sucker for anything cherry scented and at around £1.50 wasn't breaking the bank if i didn't like it.

Fudge Sea Salt Spray
I already love it. It smells like summer. Its beautiful. I've used this for the last two days and i cannot stop sniffing my hair it smells that good! Does leave a bit of stickiness if you over spray... BUT IT SMELLS SO GOOOOD!

VO5 Plump Me Up Dry Shampoo
I've only had a chance to try this once, but its nowhere near as powdery as any of the Batiste ones I've tried in the past, so it gets an initial thumbs up from me. Not overly volumising from what I've seen so far, but just the fact it isn't powdery is good enough! I couldn't find either of the dry shampoo's online to link you lovelies but keep your eye out in your local Superdrug for them.

So thats my ickle haul. I *should* have some new beauty goodies to share with you before my holiday, that is if they arrive in time. And i've got a few travel posts lined up too. So as per usual I'm off to stalk the post man. hehe.

I've added a little poll in the sidebar, i'd love to get some feedback from you lovelies. So if you've got a second, go vote!

Have you bought any new hair goodies lately?

Review: Senscience Pliable Shine

Today, I will be reviewing Senscience Pliable Shine. I bought this from my hairdresser a while ago because she uses it on me after blow-drying my hair. She used to use an anti-frizz serum but they really made my hair lack-lustre, greasy and the style wouldn't hold on for long... often the morning after it would all be flat and straight again; so one day she decided to start using this product instead.

Basically, you get 50ml of wax/pomade in this small jar. The pomade has medium hold which is good for me as I tend to wash my hair every other day. The product is also very flexible and it's not sticky at all. I really love the smell of it... it's kind of fruity.

What I do is warm the wax for just a few seconds in the jar itself with the hair-dryer, then take a small amount, rub it between my hands and distribute it among the ends of my hair (after drying and styling); et voila... styling at its best without fearing it won't hold! I like to use this product mostly when I have my hair flicked. I do not recommend using this product when your hair is wet and you have yet to dry it as it tends to flake (pretty much like the dandruff you get when using a lot of gel and sleeping in it).

With regards pricing, this was a bit expensive as it is a salon-exclusive product but it's worth it as you only need a small amount of product and 50ml are quite a lot. For me, it doesn't make my hair greasy and the style holds for about 2 days so it's definitely a keeper!

Review: Angel Professional Water Element Nourishing Cream

Angel Professional Water Element Nourishing Cream was one of my prizes for winning a local competition earlier this year by supplying a new slogan for Angel Hair Care Products in Malta. I got a €20 voucher to spend on products and I got this cream (€8) along with a shampoo and conditioner for oily hair (€6.50 each).

However, the first time I got the chance to try this product was on holiday last summer in Corfu (how I wish I'm still there!). I was given some complimentary sample sachets of the cream when I visited the Malta Trade Fair and took them with me abroad.

This is what it says on the jar:

'Enriched with extract of NMF from ocean organisms, it keeps the hair nourished and moisturized. Derived from several kinds of natural plant piths, it accelerates cell recovery and prevents hair cells from oxidizing, leaving the hair shiny and healthy'

It is suggested that you use the product as a conditioner after shampooing but to leave it act for 10 - 15 minutes with the hair covered with a warm towel or shower cap.

I found it impractical to wait with the product on my hair for a quarter of an hour after shampooing especially if I'm taking a shower which is what I do everyday (I only take a long bath for special occasions or after stressful days to unwind). Also, when I used it as a conditioner after shampooing, I found that I started getting mild dandruff.

Not to let the product go to waste, I found a way to use it without compromising my scalp's health :)

What I do is I comb an appropriate amount into my hair from roots to tips and tuck my hair into a plastic shower cap (generates heat and aids the product in penetrating my hair) before showering and leave it for 15 minutes. I then rinse it thoroughly with warm water, shampoo as usual, condition my hair for 2 minutes and rinse with cold water; blow-drying and styling follows. The result? Soft, shiny, manageable hair that smells devine!! (they are called Angel after all!)... without a trace of dandruff! So it definitely lives up to its description. I find this treatment particularly good after a day at the beach and also whenever my hair needs a shine boost. On average I do this twice a month.

The product comes in 500g(16.6 fL. oz.) format so it is good value for money. It feels like a cream should and have a particularly nice smell. It is manufactured by Dancoly Cosmetique, France
