I love the amount!

Most Primers is in small amount I liked how much there was inside this bottle

I don't use a lot of primers

If I use them I usually mix it with cream foundation

However I felt this is a good product to start

If you are not use to using primers

Pumping type

Good to control the amount XD

The texture was very soft

It wasn't those creamy type of primers.

To those who have use creamy type of primers may now how those cream feels heavy

and could melt and go matty.

The Face shop Face it Velvet Skin Primer Doesn't

This product felt like skin so it clings to your skin well,

and it feels like a soft thin layer is covering your skin 

instead of having a heavy thick cream coated your skin XD

When I applied this on my skin I like the clean feeling afterwards.

I felt my pores have been covered well and my skin feels so velvet silky

This cream has no oil so it is great for those with oily skin

This product may not be for dry skin people

I heard some dry skin people felt too much tightening after few hours of this cream

I think the tightening is from all that pore covering this cream has

I suggest dry skin use The Face Shop Moisture Fitting Primer

(I'll be writing this soon)

It's the same line but for people with dry skin

"Prime It" Illuminating Face Primer

Hey all!

When it comes to face primers over the last year or two I've been using the same one, when i actually bothered with them at all. And as of late it's become something if I'm going on a night out or special event i wouldn't go without! Somehow I've managed to keep myself in sample and tester size Smashbox Photo Finish Primer for a good year or so, so i haven't had to splurge on a bottle. At around £33 the Smashbox one isn't cheap, and it's one of those products i know i need and HATE spending money on. So I've been on the hunt for cheaper primers and came across this one!

Technic - "Prime It" Illuminating Face Primer

I'd seen a few reviews online and a friend had said they loved this product and at £3.99 the bargain hunter in me just had to have it. Some people are comparing it to Benefit's Bad Gal Primer, i wouldn't really know as I've not used it because as I've said before i illogically don't like spending a lot of money on primers. 

Above is a picture of the product and it blended out on my hand. This probably isn't the best example since my hands are very dry (naughty me needs to remember hand cream more often!) and I've had to crop the picture since the silly angle i took this at made me look like an amputee in every one! As far as this primer goes it's obviously not similar to the Smashbox one, this one is illuminating and has a lot less slip. But if you're looking something to brighten up you're skin under foundation i suggest giving this a bash! It's definitely not one to wear alone as it would just be too shimmery.

Overall i think it's a decent primer considering the price. I'd actually quite interested to know how it stands up against the Benefit one and shall do some investigating when I'm in town next! I'm also extremely interested on how Lanacane (Anti Chaffing gel, yuck i know) stands up against Smashbox since the ingredients are extremely similar! I'm planning to compare the two when i finally remember to pick the embarrassing stuff up from Boots!

Review: Inglot Under Make-Up Base

I had been lemming this make-up primer for a whole year before I got round to purchasing it! The lovely ladies from Inglot offered me a complimentary make-up session and the make-up artist started with this primer and I instantly loved the texture of it on my face as well as the results it delivered.  Last December, I had been offered the same opportunity for a free make-up session and I went with the intention of buying the product so as soon as my session was finished, I asked the make-up artist for it.  It comes supplied in a transparent, plastic tube with a twist-off cap (bottom?), all neatly packed in this sleek, little black box:

You get 30ml of product but don't be deceived! A little goes a very long way with this one!  I like to use this primer when I am going to put on a heavier foundation so that the foundation itself does not clog my pores.  Benefits of using this particular primer include:

~ It mattifies and smoothes the skin

~ Improves make-up application and length of stay on the skin

~ Absorbs sebum and doesn't make me feel like I have an oil rig on my face!

This primer is a gel type and has a very nice, velvety-smooth texture that feels beautiful on the skin.  It is quickly absorbed and doesn't carry a scent.  Here's a little swatch for you guys:

That is enough to cover my whole face! Now the picture is actually a close up of... brace yourselves... 1cm of product!!! A little really does go a long way with this make-up base and I like how the make-up doesn't feel like it is weighing my face down when I use the primer.

I really recommend this primer to people who have oily or combination skin as it effectively absorbs oil and keeps you shine-free all day!

Mid-Week Beauty Master Class ~ Make-up Primers

This week sees the official start to this new series of posts on my blog.  Initially I started this blog to provide an alternative way for young and older women alike to learn more about our skin, make-up and products available on the market.  So, finally I am starting this series to tackle each product individually and also some make-up tricks and face shapes, corrective make-up etc. I decided to start with the products first and then we will move on gradually to making the most of them according to your individual needs :)

First up, Make-Up Primers!

There exist make-up primers for the face, eyes, lips, practically every part of your face where make-up will be applied.  Primers act as a base to help the make-up stay on longer and in the case of face make-up, prevent it from clogging pores.  Personally, I use a face primer when I am going to wear liquid foundation and my choice here is Inglot's Under Make-Up Base.  It has a gel consistency and preps the skin for make-up application and also absorbs serum so it is great for people with oily skin.

Most primers, especially eye primers come in the form of a skin-coloured creamy textured products.  There are loads of eye primers available on the market such as UD Primer Potion, elf Eyelid Primer and Mineral Eyeshadow Primer, etc... Like the face primers, these provide a base for eyeshadow to stick to and they also help in making the colours pop and last longer.  Just a little goes a long way with these and for hygienic reasons, I prefer primers with a doe-foot applicator (like that of lip-glosses).  Eyeshadow Primers are a must have for people with oily lids to help keep the eye make-up put all day. 

Most primers are oil and fragrance free and hence they work especially well for people with oily skin as primers help control shine and absorb excess sebum.  This is especially true for the gel-like primers.  People with dry and sensitive skin also benefit from using a primer because it helps nourish the skin and calm inflammation.  It is important to bear in mind that a primer has to be applied after moisturizer but before foundation.  It is best if you give it enough time to sink in the skin and apply it on areas where the make-up tends to wear-off after a few hours, namely, chin, lips and eyelids or even the whole face.

Here are some more benefits of wearing a primer:

Protects your skin from the harmful UV rays - some primers have a sunscreen and SPF 15 or more

Fills in fine lines and wrinkles
Makes enlarged pores appear smaller and less visible
Keeps cosmetics out of the pores and in doing so, allow your skin to breathe 

Most brands offer a make-up primer nowadays and all come in different formulations to suit everyone's needs.  The most popular options are skin-coloured, white and shimmery.  If you are going to buy a primer for the first time, take time to assess the packaging as well... remember you want to keep everything as sanitized and free from bacteria as possible to prevent any nasty breakouts and/or infections.  Therefore, skip primers that come in jars or in lipstick format and go for those that come in squeezy tubes or look like lip-glosses.
