Illamasqua Blush in Hussy - Review

Oh Hussy, where have you been all my life?

This is a review that is really past due, i ordered this blush in the Illamasqua 50% off sale... Yeah, that long ago! But for a little while it sat unloved in my "box of things that need testing" and I'd wrongfully looked over it for a little while. Well not anymore!

Hussy is probably my favourite blush so far this year and yep, that is quite a big statement for me. I've had a few Illamasqua blushes in the past but opted for crazier shades so they don't get the love they deserve, but me and Hussy are now firm besties, she'll be getting a lot o' love from now on.

Hussy is a gorgeous matte candy bright pink and I'm officially in love. Its a little bold for something I'd normally reach for but I've been learning not to so heavy handed and its working beautifully for me. I like to apply the smallest amount at a time, blend, then build up at the intensity i want. I've always been a shimmer kinda gal when it comes to blush but lately I've found myself growing fond of mattes, i find it more flattering and then i get to make good use of my highlighter collection...

Illamasqua blushes are priced at £18 for 4.5g of product, which shocked me a little considering how large the pans are. But despite the average product size all the blushes I've tried pack a serious punch in the pigmentation department, so they will last a long, long time! They have a generous pro discount of 40% for MUA's and other industry professionals and also often run discount promotions, so keep an eye out on the website, Twitter and Facebook pages.

Dainty Doll Blush Bargains

Hey lovelies!

I'll keep this as short and sweet as possible as unless you've been living under a rock you'll have all heard lots about these little beauties. As a full priced brand Dainty Doll was never something that really caught my eye (which is surprising for a brand aimed at pale girls like myself), but recently I picked these two bad boys up for just a mere £1.99 each! Bargain, right?!

I purchased mine from Fragrance Direct, which are currently out of stock. But I've been spotting them on my local market for the exact same price, so keep your eyes peeled for those! You can also find them on amazon ranging between £2 - £5, so not quite a cheap but still a good deal. I picked up two shades My Girl (the pink) and Money Talks (the bronze). I'm not entirely sure why Money Talks caught my eye, but I'm glad it did! There are four shades in the powder collection the other two are a gorgeous Orgasm-esque peachy-pink with gold shimmer and the other a pale, pale lilac.

The texture is buttery soft, which makes it easy to pick far too much up on your brush and heavy handed me has had a few issues with that. Pigmentation wise, these are lovely and really easy to blend with my Real Techniques Blush Brush. I just need to remember to tap my brush in, not swirl or else i end up looking a bit like Aunt Sally....

I'm really enjoying both of these and at the current price point of £1.99 are a real steal! If you can get your paws on them, do it!

Review: Rimmel Powder Blush in 004 Pink Rose

I referred to this blusher in last month's favourites which you can check out here.

I bought this blusher a while ago during a free hour I had from my lectures. I had no errands to do so I stopped by the hospital convenience shop to have a look around. I ended up purchasing a bunch of beauty products, amongst which was this blusher which immediately caught my eyes.

I was using a blusher that was a tad too dark for me and so I had been searching for a healthy, pink blush to replace it. After loads and loads of swatching, I fell for this one.

I instantly liked the colour because it was the pink I was looking for. I have been using it for months now and it never disappoints me... whether during the day or night!

The colour blends in with my skin perfectly. Make up artist Bobbi Brown says that 'if a blusher requires blending it is not good for your skin. The perfect blusher blends in on its own'. I guess this one will fit the bill then! Here is a swatch if the blusher on the back of my hand (I've applied a heavy swatch so that the colour is visible):

I sometimes use this blusher as an eyeshadow as well at the creases of the eyes to enhance the colours more.

The blusher was around €4 I think for 4g of product so I will definitely buy this again. It can be used for up to 30 months.
