Meow Cosmetics: Shades Of Meow Volume 3* - Review

Ello Lovelies!

A little while ago Meow Cosmetics posted on Facebook that they were looking for a few bloggers to review some of the shades from their latest collection "Shades of Meow Volume 3"*, this collection consists of 50 shades and 10 are released in each new volume with the 10 best selling shades ultimately becoming becoming a permanent collection. These 10 shades all have erotic names which i really love and are a little naughty, rather than the crude product names I've seen a lot from other brands recently.
As always although i was sent these for review purposes my opinions are 100% honest and my own.

All the shades are pretty bright and not something i may have picked for myself so it really was great to get out of my comfort zone for a bit while testing these out. Sample sizes are priced at a reasonable $1 a baggie giving you a chance to try shades out before committing to a full size, and full sizes at $8.25. They also have a free worldwide shipping with orders over $40 offer currently running.

Discipline was the shade that really caught my eye as soon as i opened them, it is an absolutely gorgeous shimmery orange, and even though I've been saying it a lot... perfect for summer. I've been shopping my stash quite a bit lately and its a shade i actually don't have anything like (madness, i know!). Texture wise i found a few of these a little drier than others with the more shimmery ones being a lot easier to work with.  Swinger i had the most trouble with blending which was a shame since it is such a beautiful shade. I'm really looking forward to doing a FOTD using Discipline and Strawberries, its about time i got out of my neutral safety blanket i think!

Disciple, Swinger, Threesome, Slave, Strawberries.

Master, Whipped Cream, BDSM, Lascivious, Hot Wax.
I've found that like most loose eyeshadows that many are best applied wet or over a sticky base like Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy, this just helps the colours and sparkle to really pop and last throughout the day. All the above are swatched dry as i know many people prefer to apply this way.

The real star of the show in this collection for me is BDSM. Applied wet (pictured below), this shade is absolutely stunning. Now this is where i fail miserably at a description but my photos really do not do it justice, it is an absolutely gorgeous dirty purple with extremely fine pinky silver glitter. If i had to pick just one from the collection, this would be it! I think it would work as a great alternative than a traditional smokey eye, so you lot might see a FOTD with this beauty soon!
Overall i think although a few shades weren't really my cup of tea, BDSM and Discipline are definitely worth checking out. And of course the others if you're into brights!

You can check out this collection here on the Meow Website.

Have you tried Meow before?

IMATS London - Shopping List

Hey Lovelies!
IMATS London is just a week away now, how exciting! I went a little bit mad last year and spent far, far too much money so this year I'm on a much stricter budget. Over the past few months I've been making a little list of the goodies i "need" to pick up while I'm there, I'm sure there will be many other things purchased but these are the bits and bobs I'm looking for. As much as i would love to splurge on Inglot i think i did a bit too much of that last year and I've yet to hit pan on even one shadow from them, so I'm trying to be a good girl this year. As you can see, my list is much more restrained!

NARS Laguna Bronzer
Its their first year at IMATS and I've recently hit pan on a couple of my products, so a repurchase of Laguna is definitely needed!

OCC Concealer
I've been after this little beaut for a while now and everywhere i look R0 has been out of stock, so fingers crossed i can get my mitts on this.

MUFE Smoky Lash
My all time favourite mascara. I purchased two last year which have completely ran out so more are needed ASAP!

Kett Hydro Airbrush Foundation
Now I'm not totally set on which airbrush foundation i want yet, its a toss up between Kett and OCC so I'll guess we'll see on the day. I purchased a Dinair system before Christmas and its not seen a lot of love from me due to not liking the Dinair foundation formula so I'm eager to get a different brand and whack the airbrush out much more.

Glitter
All of it.

Crown Blending Crease Brush
You can never have enough blending brushes and this Crown brush has been one of my favourites so a backup or two is definitely needed. And knowing me there will be a few more cheeky crown brush purchases.

NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder
Again, I've had my eye on this little beauty for some time now. Its seen pretty much rave reviews online and I'm actually running out of both my favourite setting powders.

Limecrime Red Velvet Velvetine
Now Limecrime aren't exhibiting themselves but there are a few places that stock them so fingers crossed they bring this to the show. I've been really put off purchasing Limecrime products for obvious reasons but I'm a sucker for matte red lip products.

Are you going to IMATS this year?
Whats on your shopping list?

Lit Cosmetics - Glitter Review

Ello lovelies!

I'll start by saying, my photos do not do these beauties nearly enough justice. I seem to fail miserably when it comes to photographing glitters, these pictures do not show off how utterly stunning they are, but i try my best. Hopefully I'll get the hang of my camera some time soon lol.

I went on a little bit of a glitter kick before Christmas... Before now, i didn't have any pure glitter in my collection (apart from some yucky Nyx cream ones) so i decided to remedy this. I really wanted a champagney glitter... and i wanted it bad. Something like China Glaze's I'm Not Lion, just for my face. So i went on the hunt on the interwebs and had a real search, everything i found was either too gold or too bronze for what i was looking for. I'd heard a lot about Lit on the blogosphere and after a suggestion decided to check them out, and low and behold they had the shade i was looking for, Champagne Wishes!

LIT Cosmetics stocks four sizes of glitter and being a bit of a glitter newbie i opted for size 2, their most popular size. These are priced at $13 each, but they currently have Siberian as their feature colour which you receive free when you buy two shades, and whilst checking out their Facebook page i noticed they were offering a free shade when you enter the code "Lit Chick" at the checkout. So it worked out $26 + shipping for four colours, i say that is pretty damn good! They also included a 4ml sample of their Clearly Liquid Glitter Base which i am absolutely loving! I'm using it sparingly so I'll do a full review when i eventually get around to purchasing a full size.

I'd always assumed glitter was tricky to work with or a lot of effort, how wrong was i? These are SO easy to apply. I generally do my eye makeup first, apply a little bit of their glitter base using a concealer, or small flat foundation brush then use a second flat brush to pat on the glitter, its that simple! You could also use these for eyeliner or even nail art! I've been using Champagne Wishes the most, i used that in my last FOTD but again, my pictures really didn't do the shades justice. And Rich and Famous I've been using to add some sparkle to a bronzey/gold smokey eye. Love!

Now I'm not even going to attempt to start describing the shades because i would fail, miserably. But what the pictures fail to pick up is the gorgeous iridescent sparkles in Champagne Wishes, in the light it looks absolutely stunning! I've yet to use Siberian or Hulk in a look, but I'll get a FOTD up soon!

All swatches are over a thin layer of Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy as I'm trying to ration my glitter base. Look at them sparkle!

Overall I'd say I'm pretty much head over heals for Lit and when they change their feature colour (and I'm off my nobuy), I'll be purchasing a few more neutral shades and their glitter base.
If you're a glitter fan, you really need to check these beauties out! You can get to the Lit Website here.

I also naughtily purchased some more gorgeous glitter from one of my favourite indies, so keep an eye out for that review soon!

Have you tried Lit Cosmetics Glitter? Whats your favourite shade?

Urban Decay - Naked Basics Palette - Review

Ello lovelies!
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
Today i'll be reviewing one of my favourite Christmas presents, the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette! I'm generally a shimmer shadow kinda gal, so my collection is pretty bare when it comes to matte eyeshadow shades. Lately i've been digging through my collection to find my odd matte shades to experiment with so getting this little beauty in my stocking was a welcome addition!

Being the addict i am, this now means i own all three Naked palettes... This one is significantly smaller than the previous two, housing only six matte shades and its ickle size means it can fit in the palm of your hand, making it perfect for travel. The shades come within sturdy feeling plastic casing and has a large mirror inside, again handy for on the go. My only gripe with the palette is that it basically contains three (half of the palette) highlight shades; Venus a demi-matte perfect for highlighting, Foxy a yellow toned matte highlight and W.O.S a more pink toned shadow. Personally, W.O.S and Venus would of been plenty as Foxy is already in Naked 2.

The other three shades are perfect for creating an assortment of matte looks, I've been really enjoying using them to create a "Pin Up" type eye using winged eyeliner and a pop of glitter for some variation. Since Christmas this has been sat on my makeup desk permanently and i expect it'll stay there for the foreseeable future, because even if i don't often create a full look with this palette, some of the shades are extremely handy. Naked 2 makes a fantastic transition colour for me, W.O.S has become my go-to matte highlight and I've been loving using Crave to deepen any smokey eye I've been wearing. Texture and pigmentation wise they are great, but we don't really expect anything less from Urban Decay. It is, as the name suggests a really nice basic palette.

For any matte lovers out there, this is a must have. But if you own Naked 1, 2 or just aren't too fussed on mattes you may want to skip Naked Basics. But overall i am pretty damn pleased i received this as a gift as i can see myself getting a ton of use out of it. Price wise at £20 it isn't bad, if you consider how much a single MAC eyeshadow or even how much a single Urban Decay will set you back, you are only really paying a little over £3 per shadow, so not bad at all!

Do you own any of the Naked Palettes?

Gold Silk by Rimmel London

Rimmel London is one of my personal favourites, so when I saw several of their bottles on sale before Christmas I decided to take advantage of the situation.  Gold is always a "hit" during this festive season and this shade was no disappointment at all.  The brush is a dream to use and allows for a perfect 3-stroke application, which is clean and even.

260 Gold Silk - super durable, chip resistant nail lacquer with Shine Release Complex (written on back of bottle).

On your nails it appears to be more of a frosty gold-taupe shade than a bold, metallic gold.  Of course, these photos were taken outdoors and the colour looks a bit brighter in comparison to an indoor shot.  I applied 2 coats.

I decided it needed some glamourization for the holiday season, so I turned to my trusty glitter by Essie "A Cut Above".

I tried to draw the glitter up a bit higher on the left side of the nail, but there are several different ways to wear glitter.  For some inspiration, why don't you go to the ASK Cosmetics' Pinterest board entitled "Unique Nail Art" .  You can find tons of ideas by super talented nail bloggers.

Glitter can add a touch of glamour to any manicure, and there are endless shades, shapes and sizes of glitter polish nowadays; it really makes for tough decisions at your local polish shop.

Have you ever experimented with glitter?

Thanks for stopping by today.  Enjoy your day, Lisa M.

Maybelline's Amethyst Ablaze

Amethyst Ablaze 90 is part of the Maybelline New York Color Show Collection - Metallics.

An absolutely gorgeous shade of purple, this lacquer applied beautifully and evenly.  2 coats shown here in the following pictures....

After each manicure I follow up with an application of TIPS Nail Conditioner around the cuticles to hydrate them.  Dry, cracked cuticles really spoil a lovely manicure, and the cold weather has taken its toll on my skin and hands already.  So, before my manicure I put on some Revival Skin Conditioning Milk to soften up my hands.

As if this shade isn't enough to add some serious glamour to your talons after, I decided to jazz it up just a bit after a few days of wear.

Sally Hansen's Rockstar Pink 140 was the one best suited to Amethyst Ablaze.  This is the outcome of my glitter tips moment.....

The glitter tips are intentionally uneven.  I wanted to do a glitter gradient, but things simply didn't work out that way.  Oh well, maybe next time.  I was still quite pleased with the end result.

What is your go-to polish shade for the holidays?

Thanks again for stopping by.  Have a great day,  Lisa M.

Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Colour

Ello lovelies!
I've been meaning to do a post on some of the new Urban Decay goodies i have but i just haven't got around to it. So today instead of doing uni work in the library I've found myself writing this instead, oops!

These chubby sticks have intrigued me since their release a while ago but being a bit of a lip product newbie I've put off taking the plunge and buying one.

Here's what Urban Decay say about these...

"Urban Decay guarantees that this is the creamiest, most sumptuously-pigmented pencil to ever hit your lips. They've created a formula that delivers all the opaque, saturated, HIGH-IMPACT color of your favorite lipstick AND an arresting high-gloss finish in ONE chubby (8mm diameter) pencil! And with a dynamic bright to deep shade range in creamy and glittery textures, the runway-ready possibilities are endless! Even the glittery hues in this collection of high-gloss lip pencils feel smooth on your lips (and leave not a trace of "sparkle grit")."

I got the shade Adrenaline, and it's absolutely gorgeous! What my camera fails to pick up is how glittery this is. If your not a fan of glittery products I'd steer clear of these. Though the glitter is very small i find that after a while of wear it sticks more to the lips then the colour and i find myself re-applying quite often. But saying this i am a lip product newbie, and due to my piercings and other bad habits i can rarely make a lip product last more than an hour or so. These are super easy to apply and aren't too drying on the lips.

Priced at £14 these are on the pricier side, but i think these are well worth it and for people who aren't so confident with lip colours these would be great! Although the colour range is a little limited, all five shades are super bright so if neutrals are your thing these probably won't be for you.

You can check these out on the Debenhams website here. And they currently have 10% off all beauty items!

Do you have any favourite lip products? Comment and let me know!
