Munchkins: Dôme Café

I am finally back from my short getaway in Batam, and here I bring you a food review because... I recently created a poll, and seems like some of you enjoy food reviews huh! Craving for more mouth watering food posts, so here you go.. Drool for all you want xP And then don't come and blame me for making you hungry in the middle of the night ok~

Source: Discover Your Mojo
Dôme Café is probably one of my favourite place to hang out at Dhoby Ghaut MRT's shopping mall (Plaza Singapura), at the new extension wing! Indulge in their rich and flavourful cakes as you get engulfed in the coffee aroma. How blissful is that?

But NO! Today I have tried their main dishes, together with my food buddy as always! Both of us enjoy eating, and eating good food, so here's one that is affordable and worth every cent. I promise. And I decided to try the outlet at Shaw House instead.

Be prepared for a visual dinner. Boo..

What a bummer right, not food haha!

So here's the menu of the items that we ordered. And they did appear the same size as what the image promised us of, which is great! Because, I have received lasagnes that appear half the size ;(

The pricing of the food is actually very reasonable, I really feel that every cent is worth it, and I even felt like they have put in so much effort in the food..

There was a promotion on their drinks, so I spontaneously ordered the grapefruit one I believe? Honestly can't remember, but it was quite refreshing? Not for people who dislike citrus drinks. But I wouldn't repurchase this.. probably because I don't fancy ice-blended drinks that' much? But I do love ice-blended coffee, because the ice seems to melt and make the coffee taste less sweet. But this on the contrary, diluted the juice altogether.

Lo and behold, the Seafood Marinara that costs $14.20++. The marinara sauce was fantastic, tomato-rich! I can't remember if it's spicy, because I did not eat this. Vaguely recall that my friend really liked this dish.

Look at those huge chunks of seafood, see how generous they are with their ingredients ^^ That's why this is a very reasonably priced dish, you are really paying for everything you wanted, and you are getting it too~

Ohhh I ate this! I had this! I loved it! Seeeee, the size of it is humongous! The lasagne noodles were cooked perfectly, not soggy, and not too hard.

Every bite, is beef.. beef and more beef. They do not scrimp and save on their ingredients! And I feel their beef is well marinated, and I love the tomato-based flavour~ Love how the melted mozarella cheese and other cheese match perfectly as well. I am a sucker for this dish and I am now a frequent DOMEr because of this lagsane. Hmm, when am I going for Dome again?

Had your visual feast? Satisfied? Hahaha..
Overall, I feel this is a wonderful place to gather with friends for dinner, or even settle for a date. Bring your girl friends here for an awesome tea time as well, because their cakes will not disappoint you! As for coffee lovers... I think you'll love this place too ^^ It's a perfect score of 5/5 definitely!!!

Food Review: A Trip to Seafood Paradise

Seafood Paradise is one of the most frequent restaurants by my family. We celebrate anyone's birthday here, and even on special occasions such as Mothers' Day, or Fathers' Day etc. Not to mention we are already a member of their Seafood Paradise Group, mwahaha.

Anyway, this time around I managed to snap some pictures before we eat. Usually, we would gobble down our food almost immediately - well that's because they are delicious!

I am not going to do it the TYPICAL review way, but rather simply by sharing with you images so you could drool at your computer while reading this. (yes! *evil grin*).

❤❤❤

Salted Egg Prawn
Probably one of my favourite methods of preparing the prawn after cereal prawn is the salted egg prawn. A crispy and salted layer coated around a de-shelled prawn is exactly what you'd get. Sink your teeth into the crispy outer layer and enjoy the sweetness from the fresh and tender prawn meat. Ah, I am not good at describing.

Sambal Asparagus
You could have your greens prepared in anyway you like, fried with sambal, or garlic, etc. We chose sambal, we love spicy food, and I would say the spiciness level is decent - nothing I can't handle, which means it is only probably at level 3 out of 5? Teehee..

Teochew Style Steamed Fish

Being Teochew, which is my dialect, we selected our favourite method of fish preparation.. The traditional steamed fish with soy sauce. After being there a couple of times, sometimes the fish could be overcooked, causing the meat to be tough. So it could depend on your luck, as their standard is not thaaat consistent for fish.

Fried Mantou and Chilli Crab
Last of all, which is the star of the night, Chilli Crab with golden and crispy Fried Mantou! Fried Mantous are basically "steamed" buns that are fried over hot oil, to give a crispy and golden outside but with soft and fluffy insides! Pardon my limited vocabulary for food, I am seriously not a professional connoisseur etc....

If you enjoy spicy food, or you would like to try what Singaporean's love eating, you should try this out. Do not look down on this crab, although we ordered 1 crab, it has claws that are almost as my hand! Also, you'll get fresh, sweet and succulent crab meat!

❤❤❤

For a meal like this, it would probably cost you close to SGD200, but I believe it might not exceed... And I would think that it is worth the time and money to eat here because I really do enjoy their food! For my subsequent trips there, I will also share some more food with you folks!

If you have gone there, do share with me your views too!

Find out more about the Paradise Group chains of restaurants, as well as their store locations from their official website. (If you're wondering, this is not a sponsored review ;))

❤❤❤

I hope you have enjoyed my visual dinner and feel full from it too, bwahaha!

Don't forget to share with me your favourite local dish or delights, because I want to know more about you as well <3

Review: Not really

When the sun rays beat down on you hard, when the weather is scorching hot, when you feel thirsty even after drinking gallons of water...

I think it is time to have ICE CREAM!

In Singapore, we have mobile ice cream vendors, selling ice cream from chocolate, mango, to even durian~ Durian is what a lot of Singaporeans love to eat, however it is an acquired taste, not everyone knows how to enjoy this.

Anyway, these ice cream usually costs from $1, and I got mine along the streets of Orchard Road. Simply look out for a huge umbrella amidst the walking crowds!

I love my ice cream with bread! I got peppermint, it is so refreshing with the occasion bites of chocolate chips! My favourite of all time~

And here's what my friend got, mango flavoured ice cream, that is quite sour haha. The best mango ice cream from mobile ice cream vendors are from the Punggol Waterway vendor, next to the horse shed (B&B).

Speaking of bread, here's milo french toast from ToastBox. Probably not worth every single cent, but I got this for free - say what~ I feel sinful and guilty to gobble this down, as it is so sweet and unhealthy. Well, if you love toasts, try the one with Kaya, it is the best~!

Alright, that's it for today's random food sharing. I will speak to you guys real soon!

The Review

I have been eyeing on this buffet restaurant, located at Orchard Central. Prior to this buffet restaurant, it was some western cafe with Ben & Jerry's.

The first time I wanted to eat Kiseki, I queued for about 45 minutes before I decided to leave the queue. Reason being, the queue was not moving fast enough, and the end of the lunch hour buffet was in an hour's time. I believe the patrons inside the cafe were taking their own sweet time.

So this time around, I made a phone call to book. Their lines were not engaged, however it took me 3 calls or so before I spoke to a staff and made my reservation. To reserve, you can reserve via their website reservation 3 days before hand or simply call 6736 1216. If you have booked a reservation, make sure to arrive on time or early, as they will give your table away if you do not arrive 15 minutes after your booking time.

If you are wondering how much they cost.. please remember to add GST charges of 17%. So if you dine during Lunch on a Friday, it would cost $23.16.

Cut the crap and enter the restaurant with me right away! *Stand a chance to win Kiseki voucher! - Giveaway spoiler*

Food Review: Ah Dong Teh House

Do you live in the North-east area? Lo and behold, for there is a pretty new Cha Chaan Teng (tea restaurant) in our vicinity!

Located next to the Punggol Park Connector which is where I usually hangout to cycle or to exercise. Visiting the park connector at different times of the day brings about different feelings. When you are there for a late night supper, you can feel how tranquil and serene the place is.

With a pitch dark forest staring back at you, and all you hear is gentle breeze howling at your ears. I really enjoy night walks there, but always be alert as there may be stray dogs around. If they do appear, just remain calm and walk away - do not show your teeth and do not show signs of anxiety (such as quickened foot steps). Why? Because all those actions are provoking and threatening to them, and that will land you into deep trouble...

After a long day of work, I would visit small cafes and restaurants to unwind. Not all the time, but whenever I feel a little hungry, yet a full meal is going to be waaay too much for me.

I have visited this tea restaurant twice, and managed to try out their chef recommended foods and their toasts. Just so I could provide a more wholesome review with a variety of food. ^^

AH DONG TEH HOUSE
10 Tebing Lane, #01-03/-04
Singapore 8288836
Tel: 6241 0309

Here's a snap shot of their menu, introducing their tea restaurant.

CURRY RAMEN
Here's Ah Dong's recommended dish, the Curry Ramen.
Let me tell you honestly, I was very disappointed with this dish.
1. The curry was diluted. As if they wanted to save curry for another bowl of ramen.
2. It was not spicy despite being labelled as spicy
3. The potato was "lan" - overcooked, and it literally tasted like mash potatoes

This costs below $10 (can't remember the exact price anymore), and it is something I would never order again because it didn't taste good at all. I would recommend you to go to the Hong Kong Cafe to have their curry ramen, it is thick and delicious.
Overall: 0/5

FISH & CHEESE
I apologise for the odd angle, haha. I would say this is the best dish out of everything I have eaten thus far. The salad tastes very refreshing with the raisins. The fries were crispy and golden. Lastly, the cheese (tasted like nachooos) was delicious!! Although I found the fish a tad too soft - although I liked the golden crusts.

Decent fish and chips, but there's definitely better ones out there~
Overall: 3/5

ICED MILK TEA
What's a Cha Chaan Teng without milk tea? So I ordered a cuppa ice milk tea.
It did smell like the real deal, however it was still lacking in flavour. Tea bags when over soaked will produce a very "siap" taste - a sub-taste of bitter. So... it's pretty normal.
Overall: 2/5
HOT MILK TEA

During the second visit, I ordered hot milk tea instead, which came along with the toast set (to be introduced shortly after). This had the same bitter aftertaste which was irksome, and I didn't finish it. Sad, because this is a cafe and restaurant, they should not be re-using their teabags for toooo long.

Stains on teaspoon
Not only was the milk tea bitter, I feel that they could improve on their cleanliness. See the stains left on the teaspoon, I've never see such a dirty spoon from a regular coffee shop, but why am I seeing this at the cafe. Furthermore, the staff were throwing the used utensils into their trolleys with a loud THUD! Cafes should have a higher standard of cleanliness and appearance - they should be doing this behind closed doors... aren't they. Feels like I am just in a regular coffee shop with all these "noise" going around...
Overall: 0/5

TOAST SET
(Includes 2 half-boiled eggs, 1 drink and 2 slices of toasts)

The half-boiled eggs are pretty decent, however I felt one of the egg was slightly too raw for my liking. Well, everyone has their own preference - runny eggs or more cooked eggs.

The toast was very good, it is thinly sliced and crispy! The kaya had a very nice gritty texture, and the thick butter is chilled yet soft when you bite into the toast. (I am not the best at describing food huh). I really would recommend having this if you come here, just the toast hehe.

Overall: 3.5/5

BUFFALO WINGS
This is probably the most disappointing dish. I expected this to be spicy, however the sauce was more sweet than anything else. I feel that the sauce used was a regular BBQ sauce, which I feel so cheated *bleh*

Overall: 0/5

Are you a OCBC card holder? If you charge this meal to your credit/debit card, you would get 10% off ala carte items AND receive a $5 VOUCHER for your next visit with no minimum spending. Because of this, I will be going back just to have my toast. Hee...

Food Review: Sheng Kee Dessert

Desserts! I love eating desserts, today I am going to share the Hong Kong dessert from Sheng Kee Desserts store.

They had a 3 for 2 dessert promotion, so the 2 of us ordered 3 desserts to share.

1. Popular Mango Sago with Pomelo
This is a very rich and sweet dessert. But the fresh pomelo will help to keep the mango sweetness at bay.

Rate: 3/5

-

2. Mango Pudding
This mango pudding is not sweet, however the subtle mango pieces in the pudding gives it some extra flavour. I really love this pudding, because it isn't too rich or sweet.

Rate: 3.5/5

-

3. Mango, Grass Jelly with Pearl Jelly
This had got to be my favourite! This has the lightest consistency, and a tinge of sourness. Although I would prefer my grass jelly to be in blocks instead of stripes.

Rate: 4/5

Food Review: Hong Kong Cafe

What did I eat again this time around at Hong Kong Cafe?

Curry Ramen
This is not very spicy, and I love how the ramen and curry complements each other. This came with chicken cutlet, which I enjoy as well. The ramen is very chewy and delicious, I really love this dish. Because I love curry, I am going to be biased and rate this...

Food Review: Fish & Co.

I love Fish & Co., do you?

I have been trying to avoid plentiful of fried food, but this is one of those that I just simply cannot resist. Imagine the seafood platter? Garlic mussels..

Today I had something different instead, so here we go.

I love this slushie, Mermaid Freeze, which is ice-blended mango drink. Great to quench the thirst for 2 or more people. Costs around SGD$8 I believe.

I ordered a couple of items, but I only managed to take photo of this. This is a spicy tomato based spaghetti with prawn. The exact name, I can't recall.

This is extremely spicy!! Eating the chilli will send chills down your spine and burn your lips, for sure.

Some other items that I ordered, Garlic Mussels (my absolute love), and another dish with crusted fish. I absolutely enjoyed these 2 items more, because the spaghetti is wayyy too spicy for me. But if you love spicy food, that is nothing :)

I love Fish & Co. and I will continue going back! Except for their slow service and getting customers to settle down....

They are quite affordable if you do not spend too much on their drinks or desserts. They do have meals that come with a soup and drink as well, huge savings! Also, the seafood platter for 1 is able to feed 2 ladies' appetite. So that's it, go try it for yourself!

Overall: 4/5

Food Review: Sarang Korean Restaurant

Initially, my intention on this blog was to be foodie and makeup related. But I kind of neglected the foodie side. Today, I will be writing about a review of a restaurant.

All reviews are my honest opinions! Although I may not be a professional food taster or chef, I hope my two-cents of how the food is would be helpful to your own food expedition!

*

Heard so much about this place from my friends and colleagues that this was quite a popular place for Korean food. Chanced upon a deal voucher and decided to purchase it to try it out?
