OCC Conceal - Review

Hii Lovelies!

OCC Conceal has been on my radar for quite some time, i read and watched rave reviews around its launch time and have lusted after it ever since. But with my awful luck as soon as I'd finished up my current stash of concealers this little gem was out of stock nearly everywhere (i really don't like paying postage if i can help it) so i decided to wait and get my paws on it at IMATS.

 

This was actually the only OCC product i picked up at IMATS this year, i know... its shocking! But i was trying to be restrained after last year spendathon. OCC Conceal comes in 10 shades 5 with red based undertones and 5 yellow based meaning there is really something for most skin tones, even if you have to mix. Now I knew i wanted R0, but i probably should of had a little swatch at R1 too but the booth was manic so i just popped my order in for the one colour. R0 is quite possibly the lightest concealer I've seen excluding the Illamasqua whites. If you struggle to find concealers pale enough for your skin tone I'd give this a looky!

It has quite a thin consistency but with superb coverage, i find it covers my under eye circles with just a smidge of product. Like all concealers (in my opinion) it does need setting though or it will crease. Sadly, I'm a little too dark to use this for covering blemishes currently but i do think this would work great for it. I'm going to need to buy R1 now aren't I?

You get an extremely generous 8g of product which is considerably more that most concealers (some of those clicky ones only hold just over a gram, shocking!) and as you need the smallest amount of product i can see this lasting a long, long time just for personal use. Priced at £15.50 its in the mid price range, but even though i paid £10 show price if i ever run out, I'd be more than happy to order a full priced one online.

Overall OCC Conceal is a pretty darn good concealer, I'll now need to go grab the darker shade and have a play around ASAP. For my pale lovelies, seriously check this one out if you've yet to find a decent concealer for your complexion. For everyone else, go check out their shade range!

It's a rolling type Remember to pull just the amount you are going to use

And don't push it on you might break the stick or scrap it on the edge

You don't want that if you care about hygienic

I find the texture so smooth!

I know many use this as a concealer too and when I think of concealer

I usually think it as being matty and thick and when you spread it around your skin 

it pulls the skin too much that it irritates

However I love how Silky this feels

It spread well like normal BB cream.

**Although I feel it lacks strength, sometimes the cream move too much

But overall I'm loving this feeling!**

Anyone up for a losing weight?

Well did you know? If you starve to lose weight you're body will become a type of body that will get fat with just drinking water.

Lose weight by eating well (Not just vegetable, because some veggies can get you gain weigh too) eating mixture of all thing but with no fat.

I'm in a healthy weight but it is easier to lose weight than keep the weight steady, so I'm kind of going towards fat, I decided I should be more careful what I eat. I walked across a magazine saying this recipe is for YOU! BEST RECIPE TO LOSE WEIGHT!

Obviousness, I looked at it so closely that I memorized it and wanted to try it myself!

It's a salad and I wanted to show how I did it but....

I know it's a salad but I swear you can do better than I did...:/

It's quiet simple (But I can't cook so it is only simple to you guys)

Slice the chicken breast (lot of protein low fat meat) so you can eat it in one bit

slice the veggies, cabbages, tomato, and you should slice the egg(after you boil it)

To boil the egg put it in a boiling water for 10 min.

Cover the chicken breasts with flour

Break raw egg and mix it well, and put in the chicken breast(covered with flour)

make sure it well covered with egg

Than cover the chicken breast with bread crum

than pour in oil into a fry pan and put in all the chicken and fry it well

But all these thing into a bowl 

You can just eat all of this raw or add dressing

(careful some dressing has a lot of Calories)

Or you can just use salt and pepper 

Or add herbs for taste

When you go on a diet sometimes your body wears off

especially if you are not doing your eating right.

Or you are straining yourself

When that happens, your face dies, no practically do die...believe me I know

all the dark circles will extend

your skin turns yellow or pale

You may lose weight (for a short time)

But your face will turn ill

It will take a while before you can recover

Until than you do succeed in recovering

You need something to cover up all that dark circles

There is three types of color this is NB21 (not too light and not too dark)

I love it how it is two sided, they are both so easy to use

The lip gloss side is bit thicker than the lipstick side

This is using jello eye liner to test their coverage

The lip gloss side needed only one layer

The lipstick part needed three layer to look like it in the picture

Overall the coverage is really good

(remember I used jello eye liner those is not easy to cover)

Lip gloss side need more professional skill or you might end up skin toned spots!

It does has bit of moist but it can turn dry

so remember to use moisturizer fist before use

DARK CIRCLES! My biggest enemy. I work alot infront of the computer and that really get my skin old and feed those dark circles. Sometimes on late work nights Dark circles seems to reach my chin!

Dark circles really make you look old and ill.
Now Etude House decided to slove that problem with a kit

I know many have tried to cover those Dark circles with foundation but after all the most is gone it looks damp and dry. However these will work better. With the brush it will work better even more.

I love how its small enough to bring it around when going to work.
There are two colors. First there is the Patch color that brightens your skin. And with the Basic Color you can make it natural and also cover what you've missed.

The Patch is has alot of moist. With other concealer the dry creams makes wrinkles more larger but with all the moist it also give your skin moist and covers your wrinkles bit more.

The Basic gives a bit mat-like-texture but not so strong. So at first I've worried it might make my wrinkles look bolder but it had just the right amount my worries didn't look bold as I feared.

With the brush it helps cover even the tiniest moles and conceal better and smooth out the cream well.

Use the brush when applying the Patch. on small areas use the other end to apply. I just use the brush both the Patch and Basic works well better that way.

Mid-Week Beauty Masterclass: Concealer

Hey guys! Next make-up item that goes on our faces after foundation, is concealer. There are different types of formulations and colours to suit everyone no matter how dark or fair you are and what your problem areas are as you will find out if you keep on reading.  Concealers are an invaluable make-up product especially if like me, you have dark circles or blemishes you want to cover up.  As I said before, concealers do not only come in flesh-toned colours, but there are also those known as colour correctors which are usually either green, lavender or yellow.  These serve to neutralize redness, brighten up dark areas and neutralize blueish under-eye circles respectively.

Now let's see the different types of concealers available and what are the best uses for each one!

Stick Concealers really resemble lipsticks and they have quite a thick/dry consistency, making them a little bit hard to blend.  Due to the thick texture, they offer a medium - high coverage and are thus best for covering up blemishes. These concealers are best avoided under the eyes as they tend to sink in fine lines.  To make blending easier, the best way to apply such concealers is with your fingers as the warmth will soften the formula, enabling you to blend it better.  Small amounts are recommended when working with stick concealers as they look cakey very easily.  If you feel you need more coverage, build it up gradually.

Liquid Concealers are probably the most widely used type of concealer and they are usually presented in either a squeezy tube, or in a lipgloss-like tube or else in a twist-up format.  The consistency of liquid concealers is somewhat lightweight and blends easily.  Since they are neither oily nor heavy, they are suitable for all skin types.  It usually doesn't crease and it has good staying power, offering light to medium coverage, but you can layer it to achieve almost full coverage.  Liquid concealer is suitable for use on both the face and under eye area, but you have to work fast, because it dries pretty quickly and if you don't blend it in correctly it can look patchy. The best way to apply it is to dot it on the area you want to cover either with your finger or with the applicator and then blend it in with your finger using a gentle, patting motion until it looks nice and even!

Cream Concealer is usually supplied in little pots or pans. As the name suggests, it has a nice, creamy consistency, making it ideal for people with dry skin. It can be used both on the face and under eye area as it provides medium to full coverage and lasts pretty well even without any setting powder.  There are various ways of applying this type of concealer such as with your fingers, a sponge or concealer brush.  For hygienic reasons, I always recommend the use of a brush especially if you are covering zits to prevent the spread of infection and contaminating your concealer (this applies for all types). Also, make sure to sanitize your brush after each use.

Mineral Concealer is the latest formula to hit the market and it has gained quite a lot of popularity.  It comes in powder form and because it is mineral, it is free from parabens and preservatives and is therefore hypoallergenic.  It usually offers a light - medium coverage and stays on for quite some time.  It is suitable for most skin types but is especially good for people with oily skin as it absorbs oil.  On the other hand, if you have dry/mature skin, steer clear of it as it will make dry patches/fine lines/wrinkles more visible. The best way to apply it is by using a full and fluffy brush and tap the brush on the areas you want to cover until you achieve the coverage you want.

A tip to remember when using concealer is keep in mind what type of foundation you are using; if you are using a mineral foundation, the concealer goes on after the foundation because otherwise, the powder will stick to the concealer and look cakey.  If on the other hand, you are using liquid foundation, it doesn't matter when you apply concealer but I prefer applying it before foundation but you may apply it afterwards if you so desire.

Small Nail Polish Haul

As you are aware, I am currently taking a nail art course and thus I had to buy a few essentials. I picked up fours striping polishes, a creme grey nail polish and also a concealer because I am running low on my current one:

Review: e.l.f. Mineral Blemish Kit

Today's review os about the e.l.f. Mineral Blemish Kit.  My brother bought this for me as part of the birthday order he placed for me on the elf website a little more than a month ago.  I don't usually have a lot of blemishes and pimples going on but occasionally I have to struggle with some bad break-outs. I have tried heaps of facial washes, scrubs, moisturizers, treatments, creams, etc and although I have noticed a decrease in the frequency of breakouts and number of pimples (I have also made some changes to my lifestyle which I will share with you in my November favourites), I still get the odd one or two occasionally.  Therefore, I decided to give the Mineral Blemish Kit a go as well.

With regards packaging, the kit comes in a white box (which I threw away but you can have a look at here) and in this box is the small plastic jar that contains 2.8g of powder (on the site it says 3.3g but on my jar there's written 2.8g) and a brush.

Discrepancy in amount of product

The jar, like I said is made of plastic and the cap doubles up as a mirror.  However, it can be a bit deceiving in terms of how much product you get.  Now you know you only get 2.8g, but looking at the jar when it is closed, you may be tricked in thinking there's actually more; however, when you open it, you will see that the sifter is in fact lower in the jar, therefore 8mm less of product. The powder is however tightly packed and I heard the packaging of the mineral line is the same for all the powder-form products. Here are some pictures to show you what I mean:

The kit and how the jar appears when opened

The brush is a very good quality brush and blends the product really well. It has never shed a single hair and is an excellent concealer brush as well.  The hairs are really soft and since it is from the mineral line, I guess they are Taklon coated synthetic hairs more than real hairs.

As for the Mineral powder itself, it is a very finely milled translucent powder. It contains spot-healing ingredients such as Tea-Tree and Sulfur (full list of ingredients can be found on the bottom of the jar and on the elf website).  It is described as 'Clear' and in fact I couldn't get a good picture of it on my skin as it blends in instantly.  Since it matches my skin tone, I like to use this as a mineral concealer during the day to help treat and fight the blemishes and I also like to dab some powder on blemishes and sleep in it so that I have 24 hour protection against break-outs.  The small jar and brush make the kit easy to carry around with you to work/school and touch-up as needed.

It took quite a while for me to notice any difference at first, but gradually, the pimples started to get smaller in size and redness in a shorter time than before I started using this product.  Moreover, I found that when I used this product at the first signs of a new spot, it healed even quicker.

I like this product and even though it retails for €6.80 for 2.8g (3.3g according to the site) I think I will repurchase it because of the results it delivered .

Comparative Review: Rimmel Hide the Blemish Concealer ~ vs ~ Essence Stay Natural Concealer

Concealer is one of the most important elements of a good make-up base. It is of utmost importance to find our perfect colour match otherwise, whatever you are trying to conceal might become more obvious. In this post, I will be comparing the two concealers I use.

Rimmel Hide the Blemish Concealer in Soft Honey 103

I have been using this concealer for years on end and it did it's job pretty well so far. I like the lipstick-like style of this concealer and as you can see from the picture, it's pretty small so that you can carry it around with you. The downside (for me at least) is that I apply with a concealer brush and therefore I have to carry the brush with me for touch-ups.

The formulation is quite creamy and blends with my skin really well. I like the fact that there are four shades to choose from however, I find that the lightest shade, Ivory (the same name as my Rimmel Foundation) is very light on my skin; so I opted for the third shade, Soft Honey 103. The colour is a bit dark but on blending, it hides blemishes perfectly well.

In terms of product amount, you get 4.5g or 0.15 oz net weight. I can't remember the price but it wasn't really an expensive concealer. It has a 24 months expiry period.

Essence Stay Natural Concealer Soft Beige 01

A couple of months ago, I bought this concealer to try a different formulation.

Although there are only two shades in the Essence concealer range, I find that this one blends better with my skin tone than the Rimmel one.

This concealer comes in a twisting base tube. All you need are a couple of twists to get the product out, that way you won't get any product wasted. Then you just put the concealer on the area you want to cover and blend it in with your fingers. As you might have correctly guessed, this concealer is a liquid one.

With respect to carrying the concealer with me, this one is more practical because it has its own brush applicator.

Again, I cannot remember how much I bought this concealer for but I don't remember paying much for 1.5ml or 0.05fl.oz of product. It has a 6 month expiry period.

I still use both of these concealers and due to the differences in shades, I use the Essence one in winter and the Rimmel one in summer when my skin is slightly darker.
