2. It helps us to slim down. There is hardly any other sport that can burn 300 calories in 30 minutes.
3. It makes us happy. The “happy hormone” serotonin goes through our bodies and this effect remains hours after working out.
4. It helps to keep us young. Jogging is the most natural anti-aging means (and probably the cheapest!) Each cell is pumped full of oxygen, which slows down the aging process.
5. It is worth it. In comparison to the costs of gyms, running does cost a cent (apart from the initial necessities like proper running shoes).
6. It gives us power. Running improves our physical endurance and provides us with a better feeling of self-confidence.
7. It strengthens our immune system. Running increases our defence mechanism and as a result our bodies can better ward off and protect against infectious diseases.
8. It is sexy. Studies have proven that running makes us feel double as sexy, because we feel more attractive.
9. It helps prevent heart disease. Our heart volume increases, our resting pulse decreases by 20 beats per min. – all this takes a huge burden off our circulatory system.
10. It makes us clever. Because the brain has increase blood flow by 25%, our thinking capacity increases as well. So, it is not surprising that the best ideas or problem solving happens while running!
